Be honest… I dare you!

“I speak the truth not so much as I would, but as much as I dare, and I dare little more as I grow older.“ That was Michel De Montaigne, the 16th century philosopher, with one of the reasons I enjoy getting older - daring, a little more, to say it as it is.I’ve often said that performing is all about truth. The best shows are when the performer cuts the crap, stops being what they think the audience want them to be, and starts being themselves. The thing about being honest on stage is that it’s scary. To show our soft underbelly makes us vulnerable. But it’s also exhilarating. It makes the experience so much more worthwhile and meaningful. That applies to the audience as much as the performer.Keep striving for complete honesty. I dare you.
